Wait! This Secret Will Change How You Choose a Career!

Choosing a career based on passion is not a bad idea, but understand that passion alone won’t sustain you. The key things to consider when choosing a career are:

  1. Your basic needs. Can that career provide for your basic needs? I like to categorize these as FCST (Food, Clothes, Shelter, and Transportation) since they are the most important necessities for any individual.
  2. Demand for the field. Is there high demand for this career? If so, how long is that demand expected to last?
  3. Entry income. This might not seem like a major factor, but I believe it is important. How much can you earn when starting out?

Call me crazy, but these are just a few key things to consider before choosing a career. The word career itself should tell you something. Let’s put aside the formal definitions and use common sense, okay?

A career is supposed to be your caretaker, so why on earth would you choose an inefficient one? Think about it. Let’s be practical about these things.
